If the Kansas City Chiefs want to get revenge for a 40-22 loss in Super Bowl 59 against the Philadelphia Eagles, they may have to get it from an unfamiliar position for Patrick Mahomes & Co.: an underdog at home.

The Eagles opened as 1-point road favorites in Kansas City in Week 2 at BetMGM with a total of 45.5. It would mark only the third time in Mahomes' career that he played as a home underdog in the regular season, and the first instance since the Chiefs were 1-point home underdogs in Week 9 of the 2023 season against the Miami Dolphins.

Mahomes is 1-1 straight up and against the spread in those two games as a home 'dog.

The Chiefs (-3) lost their season opener in Brazil 27-21 to the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday, while the Eagles (-8) won their Week 1 game 24-20 over the Dallas Cowboys. Neither team covered the spread in its respective game.

The Eagles opened as 1.5-point underdogs at some sportsbooks back when lookahead lines were released in May. The game was pick-em at several sportsbooks on Sunday night.

Kansas City and Philadelphia were two of the NFL teams with the league's highest preseason over/under at 11.5 wins.
