Thank you for being a friend — but make it country!

The Queen of Country herself, Reba McEntire, took the stage Sunday night at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards to pay homage to the 40th anniversary of *The Golden Girls*. It was a whole country affair, though: McEntire was joined by Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman during the set, which also served as an introduction to presenting the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy, which went to Hannah Einbinder for *Hacks*.

The *Golden Girls* tribute featured McEntire, Schlapman and Fairchild in a re-creation of the show's kitchen set singing their own rendition of its iconic theme song, "Thank You for Being a Friend." The ladies took turns harmonizing and putting their arms around each other on stage during the sweet performance.

In between, the camera flashed to the audience and caught Sarah Paulson, Colin Farrell, Jessica Williams, and Michael Urie dancing and singing along to the lyrics.

"Blanche, Dorothy, Sophia, and Rose — iconic characters who we continue to love 40 years after they first graced our television screens. To the characters and the legends who brought them to life, thank you for being our friends," the trio said after the performance, before announcing the category's winner.**

Starring Beatrice Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan, and Estelle Getty, *The Golden Girls* famously followed four women who share a home in Miami during their golden years.

In total, the sitcom ran for 180 half-hour episodes across seven seasons on NBC, from September 1985 to May 1992. It was an unequivocal success across its run — each of the four main stars won an Emmy, and the series took home the trophy for Outstanding Comedy Series twice.
