Emma McIntyre/Getty Nikki Glaser revealed the one rule her boyfriend Chris Covy has when it comes to her standup act The comedian told PEOPLE, "He's given me permission. He said, 'You can talk about anything on stage about me as long as it's funny" The pair have been together off and on for 10 years Nikki Glaseroften pokes fun at her boyfriend,Chris Convy, and their relationship in her standup acts, and he's completely fine with it as long as the jokes work. "The hardest part is talking about your relationship on stage or injecting jokes where you're upset about something, and you bring it to the stage before you bring it to him. So maybe that's where tension arises, but not really anymore," Glaser, 41, told PEOPLE at theAmerican Music Awardson May 26. Kevin Mazur/Getty It's also next to impossible for Convy to miss what his girlfriend says about him on stage, as he works as Glaser's creative producer. "My boyfriend's so cool," she beamed. "He's given me permission. He said, 'You can talk about anything on stage about me as long as it's funny. The second it isn't, if it bombs, then we have an issue. If you're just venting up there just to get it off your chest and embarrass me, not good, but if you're up there and you're making a solid joke, you can do whatever you want.' " Convy's mentality, the comedian said, is "such a gift as a performer." Glaser and Convy, whom she met when he produced the MTV talk seriesNikki & Sara Live, have been together off and on for 10 years. "He's a creative genius, and he's a TV producer for years and years. My glow up within the industry, a big percentage of that is due to him being like, let's focus and let's make these things look better than they could ever look," she said. "We have a really good working relationship, actually." Michael S. Schwartz/Getty Naturally, Convy helped Glaser during her well-received Golden Globes hosting role earlier this year. She's already been booked to host next year's award show, too. "I have to raise the bar a little bit. So that's a challenge, but I'm so excited. It's the best gig I've ever had," she said, adding that she'd love to host multiple times. "The more comfortable the audience gets with you, the more fun you can have. So I'm excited this year to step out there and not have everyone be terrified I'm going to roast them so hard. I think they know how hard I go now, and everyone will be accordingly prepped and not nervously hiding in their seats." Robert Smith/Patrick McMullan via Getty While Convy has now given her the go-ahead to talk about their relationship, Glaser previously admitted that she and her boyfriend split in the past when she aired their dirty laundry on her podcast, instead of coming to him directly with her complaints about their relationship. "Not because I thought he won't hear them, but they would just came out naturally under the guise of 'it's comedy!'" she explained onThe Howard Stern Showin May 2024. "He eventually heard them and go I don't recognize who this person is." At the time, Glaser revealed she is working to change her ways after realizing how it made Convy feel. "He had every reason to break up with me because it was jarring to him because I was just lying all the time," she said. "He really got me to stop lying, I'm better at it, I'm not perfect at it because I still fear abandonment, so there's some issues in our relationship where I fear he's going to be mad at me."
