Officers responded to a home in South Richmond Hill, Queens, at 6:55 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14 in response to a 911 call, police said. Inside, they found the girl unresponsive. She was taken by first responders to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
The NYPD did not identify the 911 caller, but law enforcement sources told the New York Times, ABC 7 NY and NBC New York, that Francis made that call. She allegedly told a dispatcher, “I killed my daughter,” the Times reported.
Police said the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the 5-year-old girl’s cause of death.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by PEOPLE, an autopsy found that the girl had scrapes on her face, as well as petechiae — tiny spots of bleeding — in her eyes, heart and lungs. These findings can be associated with asphyxia, the complaint states.
Investigators believe the killing happened on Wednesday between 5:30 p.m. and 6:55 p.m., per the complaint.
Fabiana’s father, Kuldeep Singh, has launched a verified GoFundMe campaign to help offset funeral expenses.
