Awful double tragedy after driver chased after mugger while mother and daughter were bicycling on sidewalk
A mother and her teenage daughter were killed after being mowed down by a motorist escaping from alleged cellphone thieves in Brazil on Sunday. João Barbosa told São Paulo Civil Police investigators that he was in his vehicle when a suspect snatched his friend's phone and heard someone say they were going to open fire. The 30-year-old driver said he confused the brake pedal for the accelerator as the vehicle took off down a street in the São Paulo seaside municipality of Praia Grande.
