Chelsea have condemned the abuse Conor Gallagher has faced on social media after a video went viral which appeared to point out the midfielder ignoring a younger mascot.

In a press release this afternoon, Chelsea stated the level of abuse that Gallagher had acquired in the intervening period was 'utterly unacceptable', underlining that the membership have been 'proud' of their variety and inclusivity.
'Chelsea Football Club is conscious of a video clip circulating on social media from Saturday's fixture towards Burnley, which has been taken significantly out of context,' the assertion learn.
'The next degree of abuse and defamatory feedback directed in the direction of& Conor Gallagher& is completely unacceptable.'

Gallagher went on to play 62 minutes of Chelsea's draw with Burnley, with Noni Madueke coming on in his place because the hosts searched for an equaliser towards the ten-man visitors.
At his press conference this afternoon, an 'upset' Mauricio Pochettino jumped to Gallagher's defence and insisted it might by no means have been the midfielder's intention to ignore a younger mascot.

'I hate when individuals be happy to abuse on social media and things like this. You don't consider that we need to stop all these kinds of issues?
'It's like immediately, it's really easy to abuse individuals and then to concentrate to it [the controversy] when these kinds of things by no means occurred, to provide too much attention to individuals who need to create one of these mess and to insult and to abuse different individuals. Please cease. I feel we are all accountable about that.
'How is it potential to consider that the intention of Conor is to ignore a mascot? Come on! It makes me very, very unhappy. I do know Conor and he doesn't need to be abused. No-one deserves to be abused, but understanding him, come on, it's not [right]. I am seeing too many issues which are occurring, not only in England however the remainder of the world.'
In response to Pochettino, the media business must unite with soccer as an entire to 'help' people when they are subjected to such abuse.
'I feel our duty, and the [media's] duty, is to altogether try to ignore all these kinds of issues,' the Chelsea head coach continued.
'The people who attempt to create this stuff never help our life. For me, it's about supporting Conor, to help all the people who typically get abused.'

Gallagher has been certainly one of Chelsea's few shining lights in an otherwise disappointing marketing campaign, racking up two objectives and five assists with the aspect languishing down in 12th within the Premier League table.
The Chelsea academy product was named in Gareth Southgate's squad for England's Euro 2024 warm-up matches final month and played 75 minutes of the Three Lions' 1-Zero defeat to Brazil.
